Seeds FAQ
What seeds do you offer?
We offer a variety of seeds for growing vegetables, herbs, fruit, and flowers.
What’s the best time to plant seeds in this area?
Lakeside weather is almost spring year-round so here we can plant most varieties all year, but keep in mind the rainy season in summer and the month of May is hot and dry.
Do I need special soil for starting seeds?
Yes — we recommend seed-starting mix or light potting soil, which we have in store.
Can I plant seeds directly in the ground, or should I start them indoors?
Depends on the seed and season. We can advise you and we also offer germination trays and seed starters.
How long do seeds last?
Most stay viable 1–3 years if stored in a cool, dry place. Our seeds are fresh, constantly moving and being replaced with new ones. Each package is labeled with the expiration date.
What’s the difference between hybrid, heirloom, and organic seeds?
Heirloom: open-pollinated, can be saved/replanted.
Hybrid: cross-bred for traits, don’t produce identical offspring.
Organic: grown without synthetic pesticides/fertilizers.
